BC’s In Paradise (in more ways than one!!)

… Well, almost!  Mom-D, dad, Philip and Nancy recently took a trip to Paradise[i] - some others were invited, couldn’t make it, and were sorely missed – but a great time was had anyway!

Dad still thinks it is pretty amazing that we BC’s can figure out when they are leaving for something other than the day because we start acting all depressed a day or two before they head out … the only redeeming factor is that we are all excited when they return (dad was a little distressed though when Bubba called out like a little girl dog when heard dad’s voice upon their return!)

Dad did check into us going along, but there was a whole lot of red tape, hoops, and all sorts of problems with that idea (not to mention quite a bit of dinero!) … so dad did the next best thing … you see, mom-D got dad a stuffed Roo Dog a long, long time ago when she realized that dad and Roo had a special relationship.  Stuffed Roo has just sat patiently in dad’s home office (with her yellow shoulder collar) for about 10 years … just waiting for an opportunity to perform and shine.  So, as dad was getting packed for the trip, he asked mom-D if there was room for Stuffed Roo!  I think that she caught on to the idea pretty quickly and made room.  That’s how Stuffed Roo was able to make it on the island trip!  Pretty cool, huh??!

Well, even though we couldn’t make it personally, we guess that Stuffed Roo represented us well, and dad has told us some of the stories of their adventures – mom-R got pretty concerned when she heard that dad was kissing on Tracey during the vacation, and even more so when she found out that Tracey was a 12 year old dolphin!  Mom-R sulked around the place for a day or two … but I think she’s pretty much over it now!  Dad also told us about those folks (mom and daughter) from Massachusetts that he and Philip were visiting with at the swim up bar … but I don’t think that we’ll share that one right now … nah, it was just an innocent conversation … really!  (Really … it was!  Damnit!)

We understand that everyone had a really good time – and that’s what it was really all about!  Good times, with good people (great friends), in a beautiful place!  There have already been some discussions about where to go next year!  That’s pretty cool!  Maybe some more friends can go!  The more the merrier they always say!!  We’ve even heard dad (and mom-D) make the comment “Hell, the Hill Country is too expensive to retire in … what about an island!!”  We have no doubt that they would shell out the bucks to take us if they made THAT move one of these years (as long as dad can get his Sands Light Beer and an internet connection)!!

Dad explained that the trip was a fairly quick one – and with a fairly long plane ride, immigration and the lengthy time between connecting flights (he did say that it is a good thing that airports sell beer – especially in Houston … at 9 am!!) – he said that while the trip was extremely fun and fairly easy paced, it wasn’t quite as relaxing as he had hoped.  But the most important thing to him, and he has been “discovering” this sort of stuff lately, was taking the time to slow down and enjoy his surroundings and enjoy the people around him, and just make some memories!  That’s important stuff, don’tcha know, you see memories have a very important place in our lives.  They last a lifetime and often help us get through the bad spots in life.  Such recollections will create strong ties and reinforce shared values.

Dad has eased up in a lot in his approach to lots of things – he NOW says “Life Is More Better Than Good!!!”.  He’s not nearly (usually) as short tempered and fired up as he used to be … that makes us much happier!  It seems like the grass just keeps on getting greener and the sky is bluer and bluer every day!!  ... We’re eight months and counting … still the bestest decision ever!!

Wishing all of you nice, big fields with plenty of sunshine!

Love you long time!!!!!!!
