The Border Collie Chronicles

Observations from (arguably) the World's Smartest Dogs;
(but, without question, the bestest friends!)
or, Life As We Understand It, as told from dad's shop.

Tribute To Dad (and some of his “uncouth” friends!)

By The Buppies (featuring Mr. Hall[i])

Hopefully, if you’re reading this, you know a little about our dad!  If you know anything about him, you’ll know that these words penned by Mr. Hall (when dad was nine years old) fit him plenty dang well!  On this Independence Day (and his 1 year anniversary) – we just wanted to put out some sort of something that gave him a little tip of our Resistol's!

In some of my songs I have casually mentioned
The fact that I like to drink beer
This little song is more to the point
Roll out the barrel and lend me your ears

I like beer it makes me a jolly good fellow
I like beer it helps me unwind
And sometimes it makes me feel mellow
(Makes him feel mellow)

Whiskey's too rough, champagne costs too much
Vodka puts my mouth in gear
This little refrain should help me explain
As a matter of fact I like beer
(He likes beer)

My wife often frowns when we're out on the town
And I'm wearing a suit and a tie

(Ed note:  Yeah, dad does have to wear a tie to work now!  Hee, Hee!)
She's sipping vermouth and she thinks I'm uncouth
When I yell as the waiter goes by

I like beer it makes me a jolly good fellow
I like beer it helps me unwind
And sometimes it makes me feel mellow
(Makes him feel mellow)

Whiskey's too rough, champagne costs too much
Vodka puts my mouth in gear
Well this little refrain should help me explain
As a matter of fact I like beer
(He likes beer)

Last night I dreamed that I passed from the scene
And I went to a place so sublime
Oh, the water was clear and tasted like beer
Then they turned it all into wine

I like beer it makes me a jolly good fellow
I like beer it helps me unwind
Sometimes it makes me feel mellow
(Makes him feel mellow)

Whiskey's too rough, champagne costs too much
And vodka puts my mouth in gear
This little refrain should help me explain
As a matter of fact I like beer
(Yes he likes beer)

Not too deep of a message today, but just a little nod to dad (and mom-D)!  This past year has presented some pretty significant changes and opportunities for both of them.  It has all been WONDERMOUS!  Hunting stuff down and killing it is a very satisfying feeling!  (Especially when you get to enjoy some of the "spoils"!!)  Dad keeps saying that this has been the best decision that he has ever made!  Mom-D clears her throat and dad clarifies … “In a long time!”

Still wishing all of you nice, big fields with plenty of sunshine![ii]

Hoping that you and yours have a Wonderful, Safe, and Happy Independence Day this year!!!!!!!

[i] This is a song written and recorded by American country music artist Tom T. Hall. A straightforward narrative in which Hall espouses the virtues of the beverage in a humorous tone, the song was released in August 1975 as the lead single from the album, I Wrote A Song About It. The song peaked at number 4 on the U.S. country singles chart and number 12 on the Canadian country singles chart.  http://www.ask.com/wiki/I_Like_Beer
