Random Thoughts[i] (part dos) …By Bubba

  • D & T are having a little girl!!!  Hooray!  I am excited!

  • I STILL wonder when it's gonna rain again?  The snow was cool, but dad likes the rain!

  • If we make “concessions” for folks with “challenges” … where does that leave folks that overcame their own challenges with no help?  I’m not sure that I totally grasp that one, but Gall and Patches keep asking me that when dad takes the stickers out of my feet.

  • Metal lathes are heavier than they appear.

  • I bet that surprise parties are probably more fun for the suprisors than the suprisee!

  • If we're here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

  • Life is not about how fast you run, or how high you climb, but how well you bounce.

  • What was the best thing before sliced bread?

  • Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"?  Where's that extra penny going to?

  • According to Nielsen, Americans spend, on average, 53 billion minutes a month on Facebook. That averages out to 4 hours, 39 minutes and 33 seconds per person, per month.

  • Does the Alphabet Song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star have the same tune?

  • I bet the main reason the police keep people away from a plane crash is they don't want anybody walking in and lying down in all the crash stuff, then, when somebody comes up, act like they just woke up and go, "What was THAT?!"

  • If ignorance is bliss, why aren't more people happy?

  • One of the NRCS guys said the other night how frightening it was about how much topsoil we are losing each year, but I told that story around dad’s table the other night ... and nobody got scared.

  • They say, ask a silly question and you’ll get a silly answer … sometimes, I like giving silly answers to serious questions!  Kinda keeps folks on their toes!

  • How come you never hear father-in-law jokes?

  • If you get thrown from a horse, you have to get up and get back on, unless you landed on a cactus; then you’ll probably roll around and scream in pain.

  • Why do banks charge a fee for 'insufficient funds' when they know there is already not enough money in the account?

  • Cowboy wisdom says, if you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around.  But ... if you're smart ... don't ever try that with Gall!

  • I’ve heard folks say – Ask no questions and you’ll hear no lies.  That’s just not right!  That guy needs to come by on a Thirsty Thursday!  Wow – will he be surprised when some of dad’s friends start talking!

  • Did you just try singing the Alphabet Song and Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star?

  • If you smile when you are alone, then you really mean it. - Andy Rooney

  • They say, "As you sow, so shall you reap. That’s not really true in all cases … I’ve watched dad in his garden!  And we won’t even talk about Ronnies garden!

  • Happy 67th Birthday Ronnie!  If Ronnie sees his shadow today, we'll have two more ... somethings ... he never finishes that story!

  • You know, in that song “Sic ‘em on a chicken” by the Zac Brown Band – that Pete sounds like a pretty good match for Gall!  I haven’t ever had chicken pot pie … I bet it’d be good if it was rabbit flavored!

  • If corn oil is made from corn, vegetable oil is made from vegetables, and they make olive oil from olives, then, just what is baby oil made from?

  • Most of the stuff that people worry about never happens.

  • Sometimes I think the world has gone completely mad. And then I think, "Aw, who cares?" And then I think, "Hey, what's for supper?"

  • How important does a person have to be before they are considered assassinated instead of just murdered?

  • Nieces should get their Uncle’s approval before getting engaged … but we’re happy and we love ya’ll!!

  • We had a little shower the other day and the rabbits moved right in.  I should’ve had it under control, but I’m glad that dad sent Gall in to help me!

  • Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when they throw the gun at him?

  • If you ever go temporarily insane, don't shoot somebody, like a lot of people do. Instead, try to get some weeding done, because then you'd really be surprised.

  • Always take a good look at what you’re about to eat. It’s not so important to know what it is, but it is critical to know what it was.

  • If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a stupid song about him?

  • It's funny that pirates were always going around searching for treasure, and they never realized that the real treasure were the memories that they were creating.

  • The statistics on sanity is that one out of every four persons are suffering from some sort of mental illness.  Think of your three closest friends -- if they're okay, then it's you.

  • Dad wants to thank his "peeps" for the Christmas Gift ... he IS a sign whore ... "Absolutely No Nagging", "It Is What It Is", "Can't Fix Stupid", and MOST FITTING "I Think, Therefore I Am Overqualified"!!!  They're all great ... but the last one speaks volumes, doesn't it!

  • What disease did cured ham actually have?

  • If Taco Bell wants people to think outside of the box … why do they now sell box meals?

  • Ronny’s five minute projects seem to take dad a whole lot longer!

  • Go after life as if it's something that's got to be roped in a hurry before it gets away.

Like last time … I could go on and on!  And I would like to thank our friends who’ve contributed some thoughts!  I appreciate all that I am blessed to receive in this world and am wishing everyone the best of everything!  Go out and make a difference, and remember to enjoy life and cherish every day, for the good times of today, are the memories of tomorrow.  Think happy thoughts – Lot’s of Love!!

[i] More Deep Thinking Questions

Consider any principle, whether the mundane, "clear nights are colder," or the more philosophical, "using force to silence a person is always wrong," and you can probably imagine a realistic scenario which contradicts that principle. Are there any absolute principles? What are they? Are there only probabilities?

Authority slavery is one of the biggest enemies of truth. So said Albert Einstein. How should we relate to leaders in the various areas of scientific knowledge and industry? Believing those who know more about a subject than us seems reasonable, yet we know these "experts" can be - and often are - incorrect. Perhaps to benefit from their expertise while being open to new ideas, we could train ourselves to see such people not as authorities, but as "higher probability sources" of truth or valid information.

We say people are "under the influence" of drugs or alcohol, but we don't really have a similar expression for those who are intoxicated by an idea or philosophy or opinion. Do we underrate the addictive and potentially destructive power of ideas over human beings? If we accept that there is a difference between having a belief and being controlled by one (it having us), how do we distinguish the two?
