(but, without question, the bestest friends!)

You can’t always win!

By Rooney

… But, you gotta try!  If you still don’t get what you were reaching for … that’s ok too!  Improvise and have fun while you’re waiting for the next opportunity to grab for it!!!

I got to thinking about this topic while visiting with a fella by the name of Flody Boatwood.  You see as I got to understanding ol’ Flody a little better, I understood that he was anxious as heck to head to the islands.  He keeps trying in the best way that he knows, he has some success … but even though he wasn’t 100% successful, he didn’t give up … he just accomplishes it in another way …

Put my ass in a lawn chair,
Toes in the clay,
Not a worry in the world a PBR on the way!
Life is good today …

Life is good today![i]

Other folks find other ways to deal with their own form of escapism (which is the mental diversion by means of entertainment or recreation, as an "escape" or dissociation from the perceived unpleasant or banal aspects of daily life).

You can “Ask” escapism and find a whole lot of opinions (well, multiple expressions of the two edges of escapism – For and Against).  My take on it is, in order for escapism to be healthy, you must be accessing these fantasy worlds with positive intentions, rather than as an attempt to escape reality.  Intention is the key.  If you are merely trying to make negative feelings go away, and you do it reflexively, you are practicing the “bad form” of escapism.  If you use it as an occasional means of taking a mental break from the stressors of life, hey … no problem!!

Here are some more thoughts on escapism (we like these too!):

Barmaid, play me some Buffett,

I’m in a mood to get away.

So pour me a vacation,

I need to leave here right away.

I’ve got to get out by the ocean,

If it’s only in my mind.

Take me out to paradise, if only for tonight,

I can leave it all behind.[ii]

And …

Pour me something tall and strong.

Make it a hurricane before I go insane.

It’s only half past twelve, but I don’t care …

It’s five o’clock somewhere![iii]

Yeah … you know that us BC’s do like our tunes … music itself, is … in a sense, a form of escapism don’t you reckon?  Heck, that’s the way that we look at it!

Music can be celebratory as well (that’s most often the way it is around his ol’ place!), yeah, it can be somber, or downright depressing at times too – but let’s focus on the celebratory part right now, shall we:

I can’t complain, but sometimes I still do.

Life’s been good to me so far![iv]

And …

Sunrise, there’s a fire in the sky

Never been so happy,

Never felt so high,

And I think I’ve might’ve found me my own kind of paradise.[v]

WOW – those two can fit many sorts of situations …

I also use my tunes to do a little reflecting and thinking … like this one:

Heaven knows that I ain't perfect, I've raised a little cain,

And I plan to raise a whole lot more, Before I hear those angels sing,

Gonna get right with the Lord, But there'll be hell to pay,

But I ain't in no hurry.

Ain't in no hurry, Be a fool now to worry,

About all those things I can't change,

And the time that I borrow, Can wait till tomorrow,

Cause I ain't in no hurry, Ain't in no hurry, Ain't in no hurry today![vi]

Just remember when you’re making that list …

Wishing you all the best!!!
